1. Philosophy and Scope

ISJ seeks to admit pupils who will thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within the school community. Admissions are conducted without discrimination on the grounds of gender, race, nationality, religion, disability, or family background.

This policy sets out the principles governing how places are allocated. The separate Admissions Terms and Conditions govern the legal agreement between ISJ and each enrolled family once a place has been accepted.

2. The Admissions Process

Admission follows a structured sequence:

  1. Submission of the official application form
  2. Provision of supporting documentation (previous school reports, medical information)
  3. Informal assessment, observation, or formal testing at ISJ's discretion
  4. A meeting between the family and the school
  5. Formal offer of a place, subject to availability
  6. Confirmation via signed Offer and Acceptance Letter and fee payment

Decisions are based on the availability of places and ISJ's ability to meet the pupil's needs. Assessments are used to inform placement and support, not as a tool for academic selection.

3. English Language Requirements

As the language of instruction is English, applicants should have sufficient proficiency to access the curriculum. ISJ may admit a limited number of pupils with developing English where the school determines that appropriate progress can be made with available support. See also the EAL Policy.

4. SEND and Learning Needs

Families must disclose any known medical, psychological, or learning-related needs at the point of application and throughout the pupil's enrolment. ISJ will make reasonable adjustments within its existing resources. Where specialist services or significant additional resources are required, ISJ may charge separately or recommend external assessments. If a pupil's needs fall significantly outside the school's capacity to provide support, ISJ reserves the right to review or withdraw the placement. See also the SEND Policy.

5. Financial Obligations

All tuition, enrolment, capital contribution, and material fees must be paid in full as invoiced. Current fee amounts, payment schedules, late payment charges, and sanctions for non-payment are published on the fees page, which forms an integral part of this agreement. Families experiencing financial difficulty should contact [email protected] as early as possible.

6. Attendance and Conduct

Pupils are expected to attend regularly and adhere to the ISJ Behaviour Expectations. Personal data is handled in accordance with the Privacy Notice. Pupils may be photographed or filmed for newsletters, marketing, or internal displays; parents wishing to limit this should notify [email protected] in writing. In the event of circumstances beyond ISJ's control, the school may modify operations or move to remote learning while making reasonable efforts to continue educational provision.

7. Notice of Withdrawal

90 days' written notice is required to withdraw a pupil. Notice must be submitted to [email protected] and takes effect only once acknowledged by the school. Where the required notice is not given, one full term's tuition fees will be charged in lieu.
