The Independent School of Jakarta celebrated Lunar New Year with an afternoon of colour, energy, and cultural pride. The celebrations brought the school community together for performances, traditions, and a shared sense of occasion.

Performances and Traditions

The afternoon opened with a series of performances showcasing pupil talent across languages and traditions. Picco and Eunice narrated the proceedings in both English and Chinese, while year groups performed songs and dances in Chinese and Korean. Parents and pupils filled the audience dressed in red, gold, and traditional dress.

A highlight was the lion dance, which made its way through the classrooms to the rhythmic beat of drums and clashing cymbals, bringing luck and laughter wherever it went. Pupils gave their red envelopes and oranges to the lion as it passed.

Wushu

The Wushu demonstration drew the attention of the entire school. Performers executed intricate martial arts moves with skill and precision, a display of focus, discipline, and dedication that left the audience in admiration.

The Lunar New Year celebration was a chance for the ISJ community to come together, share in traditions, and celebrate the diversity that defines the school.
